A Note to Parents

Our Awana Club is part of more than 46,000 Awana clubs which operate around the world. These church-sponsored clubs are open to all youth and have children attending from many different faiths and churches.

Awana presents an opportunity for your child to establish and grow in his or her relationship with Christ and build good relationships with others. Awana Clubs strive to provide a highly relational and highly scriptural environment because Awana believes the most significant impact for Christ starts with kids who know, love, and serve Him.

Our Awana program is under the general leadership of the Commander, currently David Vickery II. Each age group is under the direction of a Director who works with a group of adult leaders. These leaders work with small groups of children listening to them recite Bible verses, reviewing the week’s lesson, joining them on the game square, and calling them during the week at home.

Our Awana program consists of 3 groups (Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T Boys & Girls) for children who are 3-years-old to 6th grade. GCC Madera also offers a ministry for youth (7th-12th grades), many Bible study opportunities for adults, and nursery care for children under 3-years-old.

Schedule & Rotations

Our Awana Club begins at 6:30pm and ends at 8:00pm. Our Sparks and T&T groups have three 30-minute rotations throughout the night. They are as follows:

Schedule of Activities

Game Time

Game Time occurs on the Awana Game Square under the Pavilion, where children are separated into four different colored teams and participate in fun and active Awana-exclusive games. A Game Coordinator from each group facilitates the games, and a leader at each team helps ensure a fun, enjoyable, and safe time for all children in our Club. Closed toe shoes are required for the game square.

Handbook Time

Handbook Time provides an opportunity for our adult leaders to interact with the children in a small group setting, providing optimal time for discipleship, prayer, and memorization of Scripture. In the first week, your child will receive an entrance booklet. After completing this booklet, your child will be eligible to receive their uniform and handbook. Your child will use this handbook throughout the year to complete weekly sections and earn various awards.

Lesson Time

Lesson Time is where each group comes together as a whole for worship, award recognition, a Bible lesson.

More Information

Uniforms

The uniform is important because it provides unity in the club and all the awards earned can be worn on the uniform. All clubbers who have earned their uniforms are expected to wear them to club meetings. Uniforms should be clean and neat. For the games square, closed shoes (that won’t easily fall off) are necessary.

Medical, Liability, & Media Release Form

GCC Madera’s Awana club is a very active ministry. We play active games every Wednesday night so we want to be prepared, unlikely as it is, if first-aid or emergency medical treatment needs to be given to your child. Our Medical, Liability, & Media Release Form is part of that preparedness, as it allows a medical specialist to immediately begin treatment in the even that you cannot be quickly reached.

Costs

The $30 fee for each Awana clubber at the beginning of the Awana year covers the cost of vests, shirts, books, awards, etc. Payment plans can be arranged and scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance. Replacement vests, shirts, and books can be purchased at cost any time during the Awana year.

Verse Memorization

If your child needs help memorizing, here is a link to many of the verses set to song with the verse references:
